Fordton Leisure Centre Redevelopment
Title:Fordton Leisure Centre Redevelopment
Project Cost:£15 Million
Project Type:Retail

This project consisted of the redevelopment of the land of a demolished leisure centre in a suburb of Warrington. The redevelopments included a large Aldi supermarket, a restaurant pub, drive through café and a unit of three small shops.
Access to the site had to be adapted under section 278 of the highway designs to account for the increasing number of users to the plot, which involved an extension of the adjacent A49 road leading to the town centre.
Sustainability was a high priority to the scheme, including a double skinned façade and heat recovery system in order to keep rental costs low to promote local investment in the shopping units, allowing business opportunities for locals.
